COVID-19: RIP Small Businesses
It was so hard to make the decision to temporarily close down my business... But the OC Health Department just made it easier for me to by ordering all businesses to close, aside from the essential ones (groceries, hospitals, gas stations, etc.).
However, when they announced it yesterday, their messages were SO confusing! At first, it said that all businesses must close (aside from the essential ones) and 4 hours later they said that their first announcement does not mean to go on lockdown, even though it clearly stated that by threatening violators with fines.

By the time the second message was released, I had already canceled all future appointments until April 1. While it was a bit annoying that the OC Health Department didn't handle this well and made me cancel my appointments, I don't regret rescheduling everyone because I want to limit how much I go outside. The OC Health Department definitely needs a better PR person though.
It was such a hard decision because it now means that I will have 0 income for the next 2 weeks. I will be so broke, but times like this is why we have a savings account for, right? :(
I definitely agree that the OC health department should have been clearer about the precautions that we need to take during this time of crisis. Closing down businesses are affecting many peoples' incomes. Many people are out of the job and have to file for unemployment, which is incredibly unfortunate. I really hope the OC Health Department will learn from this lesson and try better next time.
