All About Ombré Powder Brows
Hello! My name is Alysia and I am a permanent makeup artist specializing in ombré powder brows. This blog page will be all about my profession.
See those PERFECT eyebrows in the photo? I created them! Many people confuse this method with microblading, but this modern method is safer for your skin and suitable for all skin types.
STYLE DIFFERENCES
Ombré powder brows are dark at the tails and gradually get lighter in the front of the brows as shown in the photo. They are meant to mimic eyebrow powder, which is why it's called ombré powder brows. Ombré brows can be light and natural or dark and dramatic.
Microblading is a more natural style that mimics hair. Microblading fills in sparse areas of the eyebrows to create a fuller look.
WHY IS OMBRÉ POWDER SAFER?
Ombré powder brows are created by gently inserting ink in the uppermost layers of the skin with a single needle on a tattoo machine. Tiny dots are created with the tiny needle until you reach the desired darkness.
Microblading is done with a blade that slices your skin to create those hair-like strokes and rubbing ink into those cuts.
What sounds safer? Creating tiny dots or slicing the skin open? Obviously slicing the skin doesn't sound as safe as inserting tiny dots of ink. If you care about your skin health, stick with ombré powder since it's a gentler technique.
Ombré Powder Basics
Ombré brows are suitable for all skin types and last anywhere between 1-3 years depending on your skin type. Combination to oily skin fades faster because the oils slowly push out the ink. Immediately after the appointment, the eyebrows are darker and thicker than how you want them to be. Once they are fully healed, they will be 30-50% lighter and 10-15% thinner.
The healing process takes up to 2 weeks. I like to tell my clients that it will get ugly before it gets pretty. During this process, your eyebrows will turn into a scab (just like a regular tattoo) and eventually the scabs will flake off to reveal the final healed result.
6-8 weeks after the initial session, a touch-up session is required to perfect the eyebrows. It is expected that the eyebrows won't heal perfectly after one session because the skin can only take so much ink in one round. I like to call the initial session the "trial run" because that is when we find out how well the skin holds ink. If it holds 100% perfectly and the client is happy, then no touch-up is needed. If the eyebrows healed a little lighter than the client's request or a little bit patchy, then the touch-up is needed.
If you have trouble drawing your eyebrows on, have been unhappy with your brows, or are just TIRED of drawing them on every day, then ombré brows are the solution to your problems. Not only will it save you the stress of drawing them on, but it will definitely increase your confidence too!
